Ick Alert!

Soooooo... the puppy is three months old and huge. Strength goes hand in hand with a huge dog, and she is damn strong. I am worried about how strong she will be full grown, so we are taking some drastic (at least to me) measures now, while she is still (somewhat) controllable.

She used to wear a simple around the neck collar with her tags, but she tugs and pulls on it when we go for a walk until she is not just choking herself, but doing it so hard that she barfs.

Worried that she will get strong enough that I cannot hold her when she strains as well that she will hurt herself, we loaded her into the car for a trip to the city to get her properly fitted for a harness.

We ended up not getting a harness, but I will talk about that later.

It turns our Smokey is severely car sick. We had brought her towel to lie on, so she felt comfortable in the car, but it was no good. You have NO idea how bad it smells in there. I'm almost to the point where I need to knock over a store that sells wholesale flowers and fill the car from top to bottom with something a bit..nicer..smelling!

Unless you have a better idea!

I have a better idea. :-) Put fresh, unused dryer sheets under all of your seats in the car. Also, try and tuck them into corners where they will not be seen, and cannot be eaten by said puppy. It should freshen your car right up. (That and lysol. Lots of lysol.)

Ohhh thats a good idea! I used lysol wipes and pure lysol on the floor mats, and then sprayed fabreeze. I have to wait till hubs is home to see if it worked!

A friend gave us a thing called a head collar that eliminated pulling almost imediately... our dogs are little but I hate to see them hurt themselves. One uses a harness sometimes, but I think that head collar thing would work great for bigger dogs... If you're interested I'll try and find the company name. I think they are $30-$40 so I know I wouldn't have one if it hadn't been a gift.
