Memories

I assume that a lot has changed in regards to school field trips. I know that my son needs forms signed (waivers) for each trip he goes on, and that any parent who wishes to volunteer either at the school or on a field trip must first go through a police background check.

I don't know what kind of hoops my parents had to go through when our grade 11/12 class took a trip to the states. Maybe the parent volunteers went through the same things, maybe not.

In any case, all through grade ten and most of grade eleven, becuase we went in April - we actually missed Easter with our families for this trip! We fund raised about a billion different ways to go on this big trip. We drove from a province in the middle of Canada through Montana and into the states.

One of the coolest parts of the trip was seeing all of the Las Vegas Hotels because we drove into Vegas late at night. Well, late at night to me. The way we came we were driving and could see the lights of the Las Vegas Hotels for a long time in the distance, but right up to the point that we got to the top of the hill we were driving up, we could not see anything but the seemingly far off glow.

It seemed just like magic, how the lights just suddenly appeared. It was about eleven PM and our teachers and supervisors took us through a tour of sorts to see the big name
Las Vegas Hotels.

We were on our way to Disney Land in California so we only got to stay the night, but I will never forget how awesome those lights looked the first time I saw them!

When I lived in Vegas, it was always awesome to come into town at night the 4th of July...
