I think our dog is a hypochondriac.
The second day we had her, her first full day with us, the three year old accidentally stepped on her little paw. Hard. She whimpered and whined. She limped and whined some more. She yelped and danced, holding her paw in the air.
We were, naturally, quite concerned. We gathered her up, inspected her paw, we gave her pats and treats and love. We coddled her, watching her paw for swelling, trying to determine minute from minute if the limping had gotten better.
A few days later she yelped and started limping, although on a different paw. We had no idea how she got hurt, the kids were in bed and she had previously just been laying on the floor. Still, she seemed to be in pain, so out came the treats and coddling again.
Now it seems that whenever she is board or wants us to quit doing what we are doing in favor of playing with her, she will lift a paw at random and yelp and whine. Until the moment you go see what is wrong, then she happily puts weight on all four paws and prances, waiting for us to play.
I'm pretty sure she is playing us for fools...
