Sweet - litterally

I made a batch of dough for gingerbread men last night. It was only after I wasted all of the ingredients making the dough that I realized the recipe I was following had been written by a gerbil with internet access.

So I called my grandma for a real recipe. She told me to call my aunt for her recipe as it is really good. So fine, this afternoon I called her, but she was busy on her treadmill and sounded a bit put out at the thought of repeating a recipe over the phone in any case.

Wonderful.

I told her if I had not found one before tonight I would call her back.

The second I hung up the phone with my aunt, the phone rang again, it was my sister.

She has the same cookbook my aunt gets her gingerbread recipe from AND was not put out at all when I asked her to give it to me.

tonight I will make the dough and bake the cookies, tomorrow night the boys will decorate them :o)

here is the recipe if anyone is interested :

Ginger Bread cookies - Rolled

1/4 cup butter - softened
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup molasses
1/3 cup water
3 1/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter and sugar. Add molasses and water. mix in remaining ingredients. Roll out on floured surface, bake at 350 (f) for 8-10 minutes. Cool. Decorate. Enjoy
