Ohhh My Aching Back!

Last weekend we went to Wal*Mart. Not just for the hell of it, although I love doing that too, but becuase we needed to pick up some things and check the prices of some other things.

I had checked Sears and the Bay for prices of Heated Mattress Covers and was horrified at the prices. 179 - 229 for a queen size. The prices saddened me becuase I really wanted to get one for Christmas for myself, but how can I justify spending that much on one gift, especially when we did not have Drama Girl for the whole Month of November?

But you know what I love about Wal*Mart? Their lower Prices. They had the Exact same Heated Mattress cover, Same Brand name, same Size, exactly the same as the 229 from the Bay on for 99.89.

So we bought it. Which is great and wonderful, except we are going through a particularly cold snap right now, and my mattress heater is wrapped in a box in my closet.

DOH!

While I was in the Mattress Isle of Wal*Mart, I was squishing the Memory Foam ..Samples, I guess you would call them. My bed is really, really uncomfortable. And old. And I hate it. But Mattresses are super expensive. Dopes anyone have any experience with those platform beds, the memory Foam ones? If I spent Seventy bucks on a two inch thick memory foam thingamajig for the top of my bed, would it help?

(My current mattress is rock hard.)

I enjoyed squishing the sample thingys, but in the long run, I wonder how they stand up to things like Marital Activities, Cat claws and kids.
