Mustard : A Review

The other day when Hubs checked the mail he found a box! I love mail to begin with, but when the mail happens to be free samples I'm on cloud nine! We were asked to give our honest opinions on these two Grey Poupon mustards.
The Harvest Coarse ground was, of course, a thicker, more coarse mustard, perfect for cooking with. As luck would have it, we had already planned on having Spaghetti for dinner that night.
I hate spaghetti, I really do, so I quickly defrosted a Chicken breast and slathered the Grey Poupon Harvest Coarse Ground Mustard onto it.

I loved the taste of this mustard, And I specially loved when I bit down on one of the seeds, having the flavor explode in my mouth. Be honest, looking at both of the main courses, the chicken and the spaghetti. Which would you rather have? (and Yes, I did tease the kids that Mommy had Good food and they had to eat Yucky worms!)

The second Mustard was the Hearty Spicy Brown, and I had very high hopes for this one. It was creamy smooth, like butter, and smelled divine. I decided that I would try this one on a sandwich. My favorite sandwich in the entire world, is a baloney sandwich with lettuce, cheese, mustard, Italian salad dressing and ketchup! I have been eating this sandwich since grade school, and I fully expect to be ordering it from my nursing home kitchen!

You can see here how nicely it spreads, although it is rather pale. You might want to click on the photo to make it bugger. Here is my completed sandwich, made with the Grey Poupon Hearty spicy Brown Mustard. I liked the texture of this one, but it had a very strong after taste of onion, which I didn't really like. However, that didn't stop me from eating every last bite of my sandwich! I would recommend bringing your tooth brush along if you are going to be using this mustard on a sandwich at work!

All in all, I expect both jars to be used up quickly, (hubs did not find the onion to be overwhelming at all, and will be using it on his work sandwiches) and the coarse ground will be used in cooking! I am planning on making pork chops in the next week and I want to see what happens when I use it on the barbecue!
