You Tube as a platform

Today I received a link in my inbox to a video about a little girl who had been so badly abused that she was murdered by her step father - and this was after social services had stepped into her life. As touching as the video was, I was intrigued that it was on You Tube specifically to provide a platform for people to speak out against child abuse.

At the sides of every video you view on You Tube, there are "Related Links" I saw several videos campaigning for cancer cures and aids benefits, and I wonder, how much longer before things like fibromyalgia, ALS, and ingrown toe nails.

Politics has already invaded the online video scene, as have podcasts and TV show clips (sometimes even whole episodes) What about books being read aloud ? When will that come to a free platform such as you tube?
