My back has been sore for about a year now. The pain increases or decreases depending on what I have done that day. Yesterday I swept and washed all the floors in the house and by the time I got to the basement as was sweeping, I could feel in my back that today was going to be a very rough day.
Hubs suggested I see a chiropractor about it, that maybe my spine is misaligned or something, as the pain is directly in the center of my back. The idea of someone, even a trained professional messing with my spine terrifies me. I wonder if there are legal steroids I can take? Steroids help with pain right?
Hubs insurance will cover I think, 80% of a chiropractor visit, and I don't think they are that expensive to begin with.
Have you been to one? How Do I find a trustworthy one? I have heard that the pain goes away for a while and then comes back worse then ever after a spine manipulation, is this true? And most importantly, how do I go to a chiropractor when the very idea scares me stiff? I assume you cannot be stiff as a board for them to work on you, that you have to relax?
Maybe I should just get a massage?

Oh honey...take a deep breath, suck it up and FIND YOURSELF A CHIROPRACTOR!!! My chiropractor...well I always say if I wasn't already married and he wasn't already married I'd marry him. He saves my life every time I go. I've been going for over 5 years, but after a car accident 3 years ago (which I'm still recovering from) he was the ONLY reason I didn't miss work. They're used to people being afraid (if you get a good one anyway) and they can get around all that, and although the first few adjustments don't help a whole lot (the whole inflammation thing) once your body adjusts, it's HEAVEN!! And if you can marry massages AND chiro...well let's just say that it just, might (and it's a big might, but it's possible) be better than coffee !!! :)
Go for it...it won't hurt anything...and if it doesn't work for you...then you know you've tried.
hmmm...not sure where the rest of my comment went...
What I was trying to say was that they're used to people being afraid and they know how to get around that.
Trust me...give it a try. Actually if you can marry chiro and massage, it just might (and that's a big might) be better than coffee!!! :)
Go for it girl! And if it doesn't work, at least you tried!
** sigh ** sorry 'bout that...my internets sucks big time... :)
