Tell me :

What kind of promotional products do you use for your blog, if any?

I have used business cards in the past, and have seen an increase of local traffic that I attribute directly to them. You see, I take a few cards, 20 or so , with me every time I leave the house. I leave them in coffee shops, I slip them into books at the book store, I scatter them among the shelves in grocery stores and sometimes slip them into the pockets of clothing at clothing stores.

Its fun for me to imagine the reaction from various people as they get the card, and imagining them coming to my blogs becuase of the cards.

I also have no life, in case you were wondering that....

Nice

See that? Up there. The picture! That's the weather genie thingy from my desktop. It's a screen shot of TODAY'S temperatures!

Yeah. its PLUS TWO right now, On NOVEMBER 26th!!

it's almost December and we are still at PLUS TWO. This makes me so happy! i bet that if you clicked on November/December archives of years past you would see posts full of me bitching about the cold, about how I should hop on a red eye flight and head to las vegas nevada or Florida or ...where is that place with Sea World? I want to go there!

I am hearing rumors that his weather is supposed to continue into December, how far into it, I don;t know, but each and every day that we have such nice weather I am thankful for it.

Speaking of being thankful. When is US Thanksgiving, Is it this weekend?

Trying to Decide

Since I decided that I would not be purchasing the school photographs for the boys -lets be honest, the pictures sucked - I needed to take some of my own. For the two younger boys I had already taken a series of very nice shots of them, and would use those, for the oldest, Parker, I had to take him out this morning for a photo shoot. I wanted color, but it was -10 and his nose was very very red in the pictures, so by necessity, the photos are black and white. Now I have seven eight (I added a picture of Blake done in Black and White) pictures to choose from.

I took the lazy way out and photo shopped their names onto the photo so that I would not have to take the time to write on the back.

I need to get them to Costco to be printed up before I can decided which photo will be used, because sometime when you fool around with a picture in photo shop, it looks great on the monitor but grainy as shit on photo paper.

In the mean time, I have my own favorites of the bunch, but I thought I would ask you for your favorites. The photos are numbered for your convenience, pleas leave your favorites in the comments.

I made cookies!

Peanut Butter Swirls

Mini Rant

I'm sitting on the couch with the TV playing in the back ground.

I was wondering, how do drug companies decide to name their drugs? Take Leptovox for example. is it named after someone who helped make it, or is named becuase of an ingredient in the drug or what?

And what about Bratz? And the new thing, the Pupinni thingy. WTH? who makes PUPPIES a sexual thing? I am So glad I do not have little girls! OMG toys are sexualized nowadays, aren't they? I have two nieces, and you can bet you butt they won't be getting crap like that from ME!

Really, it's crap like this that keeps me from watching TV.

Well, that and the lack of good programing...

tub talk

I'm writing this on my iTouch from the comfort of my bathtub. I decided to use MegaBerry as my bubble bath tonight. It smells devine. Because I am on the touch, and the touch does not have spell check, if you read this too soon after posting, there will be a lot of spelling errors. ( I will edit this post when I am done in the tub)

I'm home alone this evening, or, at least with the kids on bed and the dogs off somewhere sawing logs, it sure feels that way. I am very comforted by the fact that I know for certain Smokey will bark like a crazy dog if anyone comes near the house! One HUGE advantage of having a very big dog I'd that she does an awesome job of making me feel safe.

Im making Logan sleep in my bed tonight, and tomorrow night too. I find it difficult to sleep alone and he I'd a sleep cuddler-he curls right into you while still asleep. It's very nice. Of course, Smokey will be at the foot of the bed!!

I've been in the tub for about forty minutes now and most of my bubbles have popped. The water is cooling off, so I will hit publish and cross my fingers that I haven't made too many spelling errors!!

Vote!

I've been watching CNN coverage of the election for most of the day. Obviously, due to the pneumonia induced exhaustion I missed quite a few hours with napping, but of all the things to consider during this election, one thing I kept seeing on CNN made me feel an overwhelming sense of pride.

Which is odd, considering I am Canadian and have no say in this election at all!

Those line ups at the polls? Those are AWESOME to see. They are so big that an entire fleet of the New York Moving Company wouldn't have a chance in getting through!

I don't really care who these people are voting for, but its inspiring, absolutely amazing to see all those people standing in the rain, the heat and the snow to wait and place their vote.

No longer can people laugh and point fingers at the USA about voter apathy. Today, You Americans have gotten out and VOTED.

And I am proud.

Wha Wha Whine Whimper

Almost four years ago I got a cold. Logan was a very young baby, and Parker was in Kindergarten. It was a normal cold until one morning, when I woke up sick. REALLY sick. Thank my lucky stars that my brother's Girlfriend had spent the night at our house and she was able to take care of the baby, Blake and see Parker off to school.

It seemed like I went from fine to deathly ill in a matter of hours. It had turned from a cold to a sinus infection.

The same thing happened yesterday. I spent a wonderful day shopping with my sister, and felt good, a little congested, but good. Until about 9 PM. Around that time, my chest began to burn. Like I had drank lava and it was sitting there, a burning hot lump above my breasts.

It was so bad that I was unable to sleep. every breath I had to take was a monumental effort on my part. I wished I had a pain pump. I even called the Emergency room to see if the wait time was short enough that I could see a doctor and be home before hubs had to leave for work. It wasn't short enough.

I will admit to crying more than once during the night.

I had the kids in the car a bit earlier than normal, dropped them off at the school and immediately drove to the city to see a doctor.

Diagnosis? Bronchitis and Pneumonia.

The first dose of my pills was a double dose, then I take one pill a day for four days. Hubs tells me that tomorrow when I wake up I will feel a lot better than today, and I sure hope he was right.

When I got that sinus infection in '04, I felt about 90% better within 12 hours of my first dose of medicine. I took my first pill at 10:30 this morning, and while I do feel a BIT better, I'm very worried about tonight. My chest still burns with each breath and walking to the bathroom has me winded.

I'm going to cross my fingers and hope that I am tired enough at bedtime to be able to ignore the fire.

Yoga - and My back + book give away

I belong to a website called "Mini Book Expo for Bloggers" And anyone with a blog can join it. They send books to you, free of charge, in exchange for a review.

The most recent book I have been sent to review is:

Yoga For Computer Users
By Sandy Blaine
Rodmell Press

This is not a review of the book, as I am only half way done it, but already, after a week of following the "rules" of the book, I can feel a lessening of tightness in my back, shoulder and arm muscles.

A part of the book stresses that you must have the proper office furniture, a good chair to sit in, and I can see that. We have our laptops on the kitchen counter and sit here on Bar Stools as we play online, and that is not a good thing.

While I do not have a day job where I am on a computer from 9-5, I would say that I am online about 70% of the time I am awake, and that adds up to more time than a normal office jockey spends typing away!

As well as taking frequent breaks for "Mini Yoga' sessions, I have been doing twenty minutes (the book calls for 30-45 minutes) of Yoga in the morning and at night.

As I said earlier, in just a week I have seen an improvement on my pain level in regards to my back and my shoulders, for the first time in history are not creaking and cracking as I move!

I will be mailing this book to the someone who comments on this post - AFTER I have finished it completely, so feel free to leave a comment. If there are more than one comments (LOL) I will use random.org to choose the winner.

Contest - such as it is, closes Saturday november 8th.
