*cries*

This morning I woke up to four centimeters of snow. Of course, the 12 hours before the snow fell, we had rain. 12 hours of rain and then snow.

Nice.

Has anyone noticed its almost APRIL?

Cus, yeah. This is NOT cool.

Hubs was surprised this morning that when he made it to the highway the RCMP had not closed it down, that's how icy the roads were! And, has anyone noticed that it is one week from APRIL yet?

Yeah. Not Cool. Not Cool at ALL.

When I went to bed last night I knew that there was a 50-50 chance that there would be snow when I woke up, but even though I woke up knowing that they're *might* be snow, opening the drapes this morning and actually seeing the snow just about killed me.

There were, at that point, only two options open to me. I could either get online and book a cruise to someplace sinfully hot, or 2. go back to bed.

I went back to bed. What can I say? I'm lazy!

Late night thoughts

I keep hearing about credit report services, but I'm not sure if they are being directed toward Canadians, or Americans, or both?

I do know that being late on payments or defaulting on a loan can affect my Credit Score, but are they the same in both countries?

I don;t have to worry about it, I don't think, becuase five years ago when we applied for Our Mortgage our credit history was perfect and we've not been late nor defaulted on anything in that time, but this is one of the questions that keep me up at night!

What kind of things keep YOU up at night? Money worries? Family worries? that the puppy still pees in the hallway after six months worries?

Tell me!

Shoe Love

I love shoes.

I don't often BUY them though, becuase I have to spend money on food and mortgage payments and crap like that. And then there is the fact that most of the shoes I think look good enough to grace MY feet are too uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time.

Luckily, I have found Beautifeel shoes which are shoes that feel as good as they look!

My BFF and I go shoe shopping together all the time, and since our tastes are very similar we often end up buying the same shoes (hers in a size five, mine in a seven) and the funny part about owning so many of the same pairs of shoe is that we will meet up for coffee or shopping and be wearing the same shoes, and we NEVER plan on it, we just do.

Almost as Good

This weekend was not spent by hubs and I holed up in a posh hotel rooms, but with as relaxed as I feel Right. Now, It might as well have been!

Micah's parents took the boys from 2PM Saturday until 6PM Sunday. AND instead of going out on the town like we normally do when the In laws take the boys, we ordered Chinese rented movies and v egged in bed with the pups, each other and some nummy Ginger Beef!

We rented "Role Models" and Lakeview Terrace", and both were pretty good.

I got the dishes - all of the dishes done, Hubs and I shoveled the yellow snow away from the side door, and I baked a cake. Laundry was washed and dried and put away. Oh, and we got all of out grocery shopping done too!

And yet, even though so much got done this weekend, I feel like I spent the entire time relaxed!

If Wishes were Horses - I'd need a stable!

Avitable has his Halloween parties, Fab and Turnbaby have the upcoming ConFab, Sheila and Tommy Have Fowler Fest What do I have?

Other than, of course, my dreams of someday attending the above events?

NOTHING.

I have nothing.

BUT, if I did, I bet I could come up with some kick ass promotional product for it!

Top eight* promotional products for my Imaginary Party

8. Ear Plugs for when we play RockBand and I sing!

7.Rabbit fur mittens lined with clubbed baby seal skin!

6 Heated bras for the women, Heated jockeys for the guys!

5. Shot glasses - y'all are a bunch of alcoholics!

4. Miniature Flags - The Canadian flag on one side, the BPR republic's on the opposite!

3. Ice Scrapers so you can see out your car window when you leave!

2. Molded chocolate coffee cup candies! Hopefully I do not eat them all before you show up!

1. Coffee mugs with my face on them! I'm pretty sure Sheila will help me design them!

*only eight becuase I lost my train of thought!

Color Me Confused

So.

When I woke up this morning the ONLY thought in my head was BED! MUST GET BACK TO BED. I didn't even a cuppa tea this morning becuase I was going to send the older tow off to school and immediately march back to my room for more sleep.

I was TIRED.

Two minutes after I kissed the boys and sent them out the door, Logan had picked the movie he wanted and we were halfway down the hall, heading back to my room for some much needed sleep.

That's when the phone rang.

Naturally.

My mother in law wanted me to know that Jake ( The father In Law) was coming over at some point this morning to fix my broken cupboard door. Yay. There goes my sleepy time. Oh well, I can doze on the couch still, right? Right??!!

Nope. Not even two minutes after I had popped in Logan's DVD and had settled in on the couch, the phone rang.

Again.

Naturally.

My Mother In Law wanted me to know that the Bargain Shop! that was scheduled to open on the 27th was open early and that I needed to get dressed Right. Now so we could go and check it out. Now. In the interest of full disclosure, I DID want to go check out the Bargain Shop!, but DUDE. I WAS TIRED.

Never the less, I got dressed and Logan and I headed out the door to my Mother in Laws.

Turns out, the "people" my Father in Law had seen inside the Bargain Shop! were workers, setting up the store, getting it ready for the grand opening on the 27th.

This has all been my very long drawn out way of saying : Instead of sleeping in my nice warm bed, I had to get up, get dressed and go out in the freezing cold temperatures to go to a store that hasn't even opened yet - and what do you think I saw on the street on the way to that store?

An RV.

Not just any RV, either, but a HUGE monstrosity, something that makes MY idea of rv camping look like I am slumming it.

I have no doubt that the RV in question contained a Queen sized bed and a BATHTUB as well as a shower.

And my confusion comes into play becuase : THEY WERE PACKING UP THE RV.

As in packing to go CAMPING.

OK. I get that today is the first day of Spring, but when I woke up it was minus eight. And foggy, and this afternoon we had three hours of SNOW.

So what the heck people? Camping? In MARCH?

If Only It Was that Easy

The following is a conversation between my four year old, and me:

Mom! The blue one won't work (He is talking about a pencil crayon)

Here let me see. It needs to be sharpened.

(I sharpen it)

two minutes later

Mom! The blue one still won't work. Can you sharpen it more?

It doesn't need more sharpening Logan.

But it's still going outside the lines!

....And they lecture US on responsibility!

OMG.

So I was talking to my Mother in law this morning, I needed to get her to fix the zipper on a pair of Parker's pants - the pants are only two months old and the zipper is shot - horrible! The pants themselves are in great shape, no wear on the knees at all, but the zipper is completely garbage!

ANHYway, while we were talking, My MIL said that my father in law would be over next week to see if he can fix my cupboard door - that he would have come over sooner to fix it, but has been having a lot of trouble with one of his feet. He has gout in the one foot and is trying to balance taking the meds for the gout with the meds he takes for his heart and stroke disease. The gout meds mess with his blood thinner, so he cannot take both at the same time.

I told her that they are lucky that the flare up of gout happened at home and not three weeks ago while they were still wintering in Mexico. My mother in law laughed and told me "Yeah, becuase we had no travel insurance the last two weeks!"

WH-WH-WHAT?!

Excuse me but WHO in their right mind travels to a foreign country and does not get enough insurance to last their whole stay? I understand that insurance is very expensive for them becuase of my father in laws pre-existing conditions, but BECAUSE of his pre-existing conditions it is EVEN MORE IMPORTANT to have that insurance!

You know, the next time they decided to lecture us on being more responsible, I am going to reply - yeah, responsible like you making sure you are insured the ENTIRE time you are on vacation?

11:49, and all is quiet

As the title states, it is ten minutes to midnight and the children are all tucked into their beds. Well. not their BEDS, but that part of the story will have to wait a few minutes!

Logan, our four year old, had his very first sleepover tonight. His friend, K, from next door arrived at 6PM and the boys have been going going going ever since. Basically, we let them do their own thing until about nine, then popped in a DVD for them to watch. When it was done, we started them all on the pajama/teeth brushing routine.

By eleven o'clock, the two oldest boys were downstairs in their rooms and I had headed to Logan's room to make up his bed. Except. His bed was broken - beyond broken, it was in pieces! Turns out, letting the boys "do their own thing" is not always the best idea! I'm 99% positive my eldest had nothing to do with this, and 100% positive that the three youngest, Blake, Logan and K are totally to blame.

Jumping on the bed. AGAIN.

Until three years ago, my children were NOT bed jumpers. AT ALL. Then my mother in law used her bed to entertain them on e day and wham, just like that, they were jumping on every bed they could find! I have tried EVERYTHING to break them of this habit to no avail, and now, Logan's bed has paid the ultimate price!

The boys punishment is deceptively simple, and will most likely be very unsuccessful, but what can I say? I am a vengeful person.

Logan will not be getting a bed until Summer, maybe next fall, not becuase we cannot afford it, though I hate to spend the money on it, but because I want him to go a good long time without a bed, to try and teach him a lesson, ya know? He will sleep on his mattress on the floor. And until Logan has a new bed, Blake will ALSO sleep on his mattress on the floor.

I know for sure that Blake will absolutely HATE this.(I can only hope that Logan will too)

Five years and counting

When we moved into our home the basement was totally unfinished. I mean cement floors, and no walls. We put up walls for a bathroom, we made two very large bedrooms for the boys, added a linen closet, a storage room and a furnace room. We laid down laminate flooring to cover the cement and painted the walls.

Where we live, a basement is considered unfinished so long as there is no ceiling, so we decided to paint it a dark blue and leave it open. A finished basement means a higher tax base.

Unfortunately, we chose the wrong shade of blue and this is how it looks :
Very unfinished looking. Another problem with the basement is the windows. I made curtains for the boys rooms out of fabric they chose, and that's fine, but it looks so..armature, if you know what I mean.

When we built the basement we were in a hurry, we needed the rooms down there for the boys, the upstairs only has three bedrooms! I told myself that Eventually,I will finish the basement to my liking, add shelves, decorative hardware and maybe some moldings to cover the mess where the wall meets the roof.

Well. it's been five years now and the basement is in the same shape we left it. I have been keeping an eye out on the net, fooling around with design websites and architectural magazines. I've got a few good ideas now that I am ready to go with.

I found a site, Inviting Home.Com, that sells pretty much everything a person needs to spice up their home. I want to add some roll down shades to the boys rooms (and the living room) and then, bracket, on either side of the window, shutters, like this :

Inviting Home has seventy billion colors to chose from, but as my trip is all white, I would pick up the white ones. Right now, the boys rooms are dark green and dark blue, adding more white will be a definite asset to lightening up the rooms!

Now that I have plans somewhat in place, I can now turn my attention to getting Hubs on board with the decorative plans! I sure hope that I can get him in line sooner than what it took me to decide what i wanted done!

MARCH! MARCHMARCHMARCH!!

It's march people. MARCH!

Are you listening to me????? MARCH!! M.A.R.C.H!

Why on earth are you still sitting there? march means spring is on its way, at the very very most we have six more weeks of chilly cold freezing my buns off weather! (yea, it can be damn cold still in April. When we brought our middle boy home from the hospital April 25, there was still snow on the ground)

But the thing is, once march hits, we have more days of melty warmth, and less days of freezzzzzzing cold! of course, that means I have to get out back and clean up the ewwey grossness that is thawing dog poo, but DOOOOOOOOOODE!

MARCH!!
