I called my sister in law this evening. she was in the middle of studying for some medical coding training courses, and welcomed the distraction. Seems she is having trouble memorizing the terminology!
I needed to call her to discuss our upcoming trip to Calgary. We will be spending half of our trip with my Cousin and her family, and the end half with My SIL. I'm pretty damn excited! we will be heading up to Banff! (for the second half)
When I was in Grade 11 we went to Banff for a ski trip and I just LOVED it! I want to tell the boys about the animals I saw on the side of the roads, but seeing as I have no idea if they will be out - the ski trip was in the spring, our trip will be in late summer - I will just keep my mouth shut at hope for the best!
One time our van had stopped at the side of the road to look at some pretty caves and all of audden there were like ten goat type thingys surrounding us! It was both exciting and terrifying!
One of the things we have planned while in Banff is a trip tio see the hot springs. I need to remember to pack a second suit for the hot springs, Micah keeps tellng me that the minerals in the water that feed the hot springs will ruin a bathing suit and since the one I JUST bought cost me eighty dollars, There is no way I am going to risk it in the springs!
Another thing I need to remember is to log into ebay and try and find a few cheap memory cards for my cameras!

Odd Thomas
Have you heard of him? Of Odd Thomas? Odd is a character created by one of my most favorite author's, Dean Koontz.
I was out with my sister a few nights ago, and we stopped to pic up some new skin care products, when I saw in the book display that the book Odd Hours had finally come out in paper back.
It might have been in paper back for a while, I don't know for sure because I do not often stop at book displays. Actually, I would love to stop at more book displays or even *gasp* run into a bookstore, but often, when I am shopping it is either with my husband or my very best friend, and neither of them are happy to stand around while I read the back of books!
In any case, like I do with EVERY single new paper back dean Koontz comes out with, I bout it. I finished it this morning, and I loved it. It is WIDE open for more books in teh ODD series to come out, which is great, because I HATE when a character I like is in only one book. I end up trying to slow down my reading, finding excuses to not read it, just so that I can prolong my contact with the character longer.
in fact, I squealed out loud the first time I realized there was a second book in the ODD series, I was just so excited to be able to read another book about the lovable and strange odd Thomas.
Interesting note that I just realized while writing this post: it has been almost five years since the first ODD Thomas book I read. I picked it up in a gas station display while we were heading on a vacation to Edmonton with my in laws. This summer, Hubs and I will be heading on a very similar vacation with just us and the boys THIS summer!

My wrists need to diet!
Ahem.
This morning I woke up to a chorus of three boys fighting over who got to wake me up for Mother's Day. I told them all three had won the race to wake me and to get out so I could get dressed.
After I had been given a chance to wake up fully and enjoy a cup of coffee, the boys brought me presents they had made in school for me. I snagged them, all three at once, and told them, while hugging them, that I did not care about the presents, because it was THEM that made me a mom, not some gift they give me.
(Not that I wasn't excited to get gifts!!)
I opened the gift from Parker last, and was pleased to see a really pretty bracelet. It had the letters M O M, with two flower beads on either side, and a mix of blue beads and teeny tiny clear beads. It was very pretty, and it was definitely something I would have worn - a lot.
Exceeeeepttttt.....
Well. to put it gently, this bracelet would have looked at home as a decoration on cards for baby announcements.
Seriously. It wouldn't fit a chubby baby, much less myself! I told Parker it was beautiful and that i loved it, but I also asked him why he made it so small. He told me his teacher said it was big enough.
Sigh.
Anyway. I will be taking the bracelet to a local bead store to see if I can't get matching beads to make it bigger. Until them, it is hanging on a pencil in my Pencil Jar.

As Promised!
Pup Cakes!

Ive heard of people making their own flashes out of everyday at home supplies, but I am not... I'm just not good at that sort of stuff!
I wish I had some kind of compact flash, something portable, because while I find the shadows on the left of this photo to be nice, and they definitely work for THIS picture, on other pictures, those shadows would have ruined the whole shot!
