AHAHAHAHA!!!!

On Thursday, my eldest son started the fifth grade. We had been bugging him that everything was different in the fifth grade, work was harder, the hours were longer AND you had to go to school on Saturdays.

He didn't *really* believe us, but it was still fun to tease him. Thursday afternoon he came home happy, his best friend and he are in the same class and the teacher told him all the things I had been teasing him about were not true.

Friday, however, when I asked how his day had gone, he blushed, mumbled "good" and asked if he could eat his snack outside. I agreed, figuring I would be able to hear was bugging him sooner or later.

Later finally happened. Seems grade five IS different! One of his friends told him that one of the girls was wearing a *GASP* bra!!

I'm very proud of myself for not laughing at his horrified expression as I told him that wearing a bra is perfectly acceptable, that puberty hits sooner for girls than boys, and that within the next year or two he would be questioning how to get rid of acne and wearing deodorant.

I bought a book at the beginning of summer for him, it details puberty and more, and reminded him again that it is under the towels in the downstairs linen closet if he wants to read it. (This summer he had no interest in reading it, so we put it in the closet downstairs, as his room s right there, so that he can read it anytime) (I figured he might be more inclined to read it if I am not right there with him. Ever few days I check to see if it has been moved, and when it has, I will sit down with him to see if he has any additional questions)

The thing is though, this stuff amuses the crap out of me, and it takes a Herculean effort to stay in control, take his concerns serious and not laugh.

A picture is worth a thousand MEMORIES

I really need to get off my butt and locate some cheap secure online storage. I love my laptop, I DO, but it is starting to act up. If I open three pages one day the whole thing shuts down, yet on other days I can have ten or more windows open with no problems.

And when I mean shit down, I mean Shut.Down. First the windows will start saying "not responding" then the whole thing goes black.

I have two years of pictures on this laptop and I need to get them off. I keep asking Micah if he will bring up some CD's and burn a copy of my photos so that IO have them, but he hasn't yet, and I hate nagging all the time. If there was a good place online that I could load all my pictures- a CHEAP place online, that would be awesome!

OR. maybe one of you knows how to tell me how to copy my pictures onto CD? I have a windows vista computer and lots of CD's...it can't be THAT hard...can it?

Pee ess: check out how awesome my knee is looking. I am really impressed with the doctors stitching, its nice and neat!

Cute helps

Photobucket

Yesterday I got nine stitches in my knee. But I ALSO got my Kitty shoes in the mail!

I'm not sure how normal people feel about socks and shoes, but for me, It makes me happy, I NEVER fail to smile when I glance down at my feel at see something cute on them!

I got these shoes from Em and Sprout on Etsy at the end of July. Canada Post likes to take it's sweet sweet time with delivering mail, so I only got them yesterday. They rock.

(Speaking of Canada Post, last week I sent something "Expedited Air mail" and was told it would take 10 days to eight WEEKS for it to get there!! Crazy!)

AHNYway. As cute as my shoes are, I can't wear them*. I'm sitting in a chair, stuck here, until my leg stops burning! I never expected these stitches to hurt like this! I've had epesiotomy stitches, they never hurt like this, I've had stitches ALL over my breasts, for my reduction and the later scar revision - we are talking thousands of stitches here, ad they never stung like this. All I can figure is that because it's on a joint that moves alot, its this tender.

I'm gonna need diet pills by the time I can walk comfortably again! Actually, the doc wants to see me next Tuesday, so I assume that if the stitches might come out that day, the pain will end slightly before then!

Or at least...I hope so!

*I had my eldest son put them on me for the picture, I can't bend my knee for three days, so shoes other than flip flops are out of the question for me! AND! no shower! WTF? How can I go three days without a shower? I need to find some waterproof bandages ASAP!

If Wishes Were Horses

On Monday, tomorrow, I am going to drive into the city and pick up my three year old niece so that she can come home with me and play on the "jump-a-leeeeeen" with my boys. (For those of you not hip to how three year old's talk, a Jump-a-Leeeeeen is a trampoline.

I've also decided that me and the K-ster will make bracelets - or necklaces, whichever she prefers, and that we will go get our nails done at the salon.

One thing I wish we could do is take her into the dentist and get her smile fixed. She has a large cavity - it doesn't seem to cause her pain, and it is in a tooth that will fall out when she is five - but still. The cavity has broken off a chunk of her tooth and the remaining bit is super sharp.

Every time she falls she splits her lip or the inside of her cheek with her sharp pointy tooth.

Hubs has awesome dental benefits and it costs me nothing - NOTHING - for all five of us to go to the dentist, and I wish I could sneak my niece in to get it fixed.

Unfortunately, we can't, so her parents are stuck researching dental discounts to try and find an affordable price, before they can get it fixed.

And please, do not judge my brother and sister in law for K-ster's tooth. K is their first baby, and like me, they sent her to bed with bottles of milk and juice.

My first born also has had numerous trips to the dentist for cavities and even once to get a tooth with an abscess removed. we all learned that the bottle/bedtime combo is a bad idea, and they do not do it with their youngest baby.

It's My Anniversary!

Ten years ago on August the sixth, 1999, My husband and I placed rings on each others fingers and said " I do".

To celebrate this momentous occasion, instead of sitting at home as we normally do, him making noise playing RockBand on his PS3 and me wasting time on facebook, we sent our three boys to his mothers house for the night. Then we got dolled up and painted the town red!

Although... our idea of painting the town red might be a weeee bit different than yours!

First we went to coffee, then we headed to the 9:50 showing of year 1.

HOLY CRAP, is it ever a funny movie. Unless you are one of those religious type people, then you might not like it quite as much!

If you have any sense of humor at all, SEE IT!

And now, I'm heading offline to re enact my wedding night with my husband. (And for those of you pervs, I was 9 months pregnant and fell asleep the second my head hit the pillow on my wedding night!!)

HOME!

We are home, and Oh Boy, the last 300 km, hubs and I were literally counting down the clicks!

It was a good vacation, A GREAT vacation, but after nine days, I was ready to be home, to sleep in my own bed, and drink coffee whenever I feel like it!!

The last day of our vacation was spent in Banff. In the morning we hiked Johnson Canyon. It was absolutely breathtaking, but WOW, am I ever feeling it in my legs today!

I'm glad that I took the chance to hike the canyon, I would have missed out on some spectacular sights, but it is NOT something I could do every day, that's for sure!( Hell, If I *could* do it every day, I wouldn't need those weight loss pills, would I?)

Ahnyway.

Here are some shots from the hike. They are SOOC, I'm too tired to play in PhotoShop with them!
