Five*

Christmas is over for another year. I was worried about it for a while, that it wouldnt be as big as previous years, but the gifts we chose for the boys were well thought out - and unlike other years where they got so many toys they weren't able to play with them all, this year, the boys are still playing with the few toys they found under the tree.

The nine dollar nerf swords were a big hit.

And, Christmas at my dad's house didn't have me hiding in a closet thinking about life insurance rates becuase of the fighting that was going on around me, instead, everyone got along wonderfully!

last Christmas my brother and step brother were fighting to the point they wanted to have the other arrested, this Christmas, they sat and talked - and not the brief "hey how are ya" chit chat, but real conversations that they both looked happy to be involved in! it was great.

Of course, I got some very nice gifts, and I will enjoy them to their fullest, but the best gift was spending Christmas with family, and at no point, wishing I was elsewhere.

Shopping Smart!

So we normally do our grocery shopping every two weeks, the Saturday after payday. This week, of course, was Christmas so we did not do our shopping as planned. We spent boxing day at my dads, and today lounging around the house in pajamas, and I think, we are going shopping tomorrow.

I sure hope that by tomorrow the crowds won't be bad. We have nothing to return, so at least we won't have to face those lines, but what about all the people who will be redeeming gift cards? GAH!

I want to find a new facet for my bathroom (and my kitchen, actually - one with a spray hose!) and have been checking out Delta faucets. They seem pretty good, but I;m not sure if Costco carries that brand and we will be buying our facet from Costco becuase of their return policy.

The boys have 20$ gift cards to spend courtesy of my dad, so they are excited! Micah and I also got a gift card - to Chili's, the restaurant, but that will have to wait for another three months becuase my babysitters have conveniently gone south for the winter :o(

Over all, Christmas was excellent here, but I will feel better when our shopping is done, that way we have the rest of the week to just relax! (neither Micah nor the boys go back to work and school until the fourth of January)

I've made a decision

I;m not sure how I will handle next year when Logan goes to school five days a week. Seriously. he only goes two days a week now and it kills me to be sitting at home alone. I spend most of the day sleeping, which is, as fun as it sounds, not quite the way I wanted to live my life.

I checked out a few options, did a nurses job search, and even though there are a lot of openings, I am not ready to put forth the money and time for the required schooling.

However, I was chatting with my postal delivery person and have decided that int eh spring I am going to apply to Canada Post. First off, there is n o external training needed, and it pays well, but most importantly, it sounds like a fun job. I would prefer to work behind the desk, sorting mail, rather than delivering mail becuase you have to deliver in ALL types of weather, but they give you warm clothing, so there is that.

Anyway. It's a long shot as I would only take a job in my town, and the chances of finding an opening in a small town post office are, I think, slim, but I'm going to apply regardless!

Somewhat Sad

There is a big blogger birthday meet up in Vegas this week. I'm not there. I had checked out some various las vegas deals, thinking that if I could get a good deal Micah and I would go and have a blast together, AND meet some bloggers.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a deal good enough, especially so close to Christmas, but maybe next time I will be able to go.

Another reason I wish I was in Vegas right now? It's been in the minus 40 to minus 50 range all stupid week. Have you ANY idea how cold that is? Any Idea At All?

And what's worse, tomorrow (Monday) Logan has his ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) appointment. We have been waiting on this appointment since October and there is NO way in HELL I will miss it. But hot damn, it's gonna be freeeezing!

How to be a daddy #24568

#24568 on How to be a Daddy:

Set your alarm clock for 4Am and go to work for eight hours. Instead of napping, as you planned, after work, set your five year old up on his own set of drums, with brand new drum sticks and rock out to rock band. For three hours. And every time said five year old says "I got you five gold stars!" Tell him he rocks and that you would have sucked without his help.

Look how tiny my living room is! Directly behind Micah is the couch, and the back of the couch is in the dining room! I wish I had room for Amish fireplaces! When they built the house, they only made one spot for cable to come in so we have to have our tv where it is - actually, we moved it about two feet over to fit the tree in, normally the TV is right where the tree is. I want to get a flat screen tv to hang on the wall, but what do you do about cords?

I think if we got rid of the TV stand and had the TV on the wall we would have a LOT more room - don't ask me where I would store the playstation and wii though!
