I tried to bake bread today. Yeah. FAIL. You would need diamond blades to slice off a piece. Oh and also diamond teeth to chew it. Why can I bake desserts easy peasy but never real food, like bread or stew or chilli or a turkey? Im like the worst woman ever. My kids know its time to eat when the fire alarm goes off, and more often than not, my pots and pans end up smoking on the front step. Yeah. I grew lemons!. well, not quite. See, I took some seeds from the lemons I had sliced at work home with me, and dried them out, then I planted them in a tiny 12 spot green house planter. That was like, a month ago. Yesterday I picked up the planter, and honestly, I was planning on trashing the whole thing, I was sure that nothing had grown. Butter fingers me though, I dropped it on the floor and when I was cleaning the mess I found five tiny seedlings that were so small they hadn't managed to push through the dirt yet! I replanted them ASAP and with just one day of water and sun, they poked through. Five tiny lemon tree seedlings! SO exciting. I love rustic decor so I have already got my wooden planter stand up and waiting for when the seedlings are big enough and strong enough to go live outside for the summer!

Admitting it..

I bought my step counter a while ago, and I love it. I love knowing how often I wake up, seeing how many steps I make in a day makes me giddy, and it encourages me to get off my ass and step more to make sure my count stays up. It also suggested I keep track of the foods I eat, but until today, I hadn't bothered. I never wanted to admit how much junk I eat :( Instead of trying Lipofuze or something of those lines, I decided to admit what I am eating to myself. Sad that I need an app to let me see what I am putting into my body :(

Music is Needed

We need music at work. I'm not sure if he wants to go acoustics or electric. Parker has an acoustic so it would be better, in my mind to find a similar guitar. Plus, I am pretty worried about the noise that an electric guitar would bring into the house!

It's too bad we don't have a bigger house with a spare room I could sound proof for them. You know it's there, but its not bugging you enough that you cant get stuff done.

Grrr

I missed another call today. It's sooo annoying to miss calls.

I worked tonight. Wow. what a mistake! Fridays are busy omfg. Way too busy. the only time I sat down was when I went to the washroom, and even then, I came back to six bills waiting for me :(

I even burnt my pinky finger :( I did get a compliment form the boss man about how clean the grill was though :D And the music on Fridays is way better than the music on Thursdays , so there is that!

Summer

It has been an AMAZING winter so far. Seriously AMAZING. We had one week of cold temperatures - and they were VERY cold, hitting - 50 some days, but for the most part, we have been in, or very very near, the plusses. No joke. Tomorrow it is supposed to hit PLUS FOUR by the afternoon! How much awesome could it get?

Well Summer is better (Minus the spiders) because I love the hot temperatures and all the weddings that are planned, seeing the beautiful dresses and crying when they say I do". Im such a sap LOL

Speaking of weddings, if you need a philadelphia wedding photographer, I know just the place. (hint, Linkage)

It is January 24th, so we have four weeks of February and buy march, it sometimes starts to warm up. One week of winter? NO ONE can complain about that!!

canddddddddy!

So we are heading on vacation near Easter, and I decided that since we will be spending a fair amount of time in swim suits, I should drop a few pounds - of course this is when the insane cravings hit me, Like this insanely big gummy bear. WANT.

I love candy. Sweet, sour, gummy or crunchy, I love it all. And it makes it that much harder to "diet". (The quotes are because how many freaking times have I said "Hey guys! I'm going on a diet!"and nothing happens? Yeah.)

and then there is the fact I work in a kitchen, with fries and chicken fingers and the best burgers anywhere....its hard tosay no!

Very happy

For Christmas, I got a new computer. its a pc desktops, one of the all in one kinds, there is no separate tower, its all built into the monitor. The screen is huge, 24 inches, I think (could be 20, I cannot recall, and I am not getting up to measure it!). Hubs also bought me a wireless mouse and a wireless keyboard to go with it, so I am sitting here on the couch and my computer monitor is over there, and away i go, in comfort, and without cords :D

I was SO sure that I wanted another laptop, but hubby convinced me to ttry the desktop route - I was worried that with all the parts you have to get, that a desktop was going to be way more expensive than just picking up a laptop, but this one, with a wireless mouse, keyboard and printer/scanner combo was less than 900 bucks, and that is pretty damn good, imo.

Hubs thought I should get a desktop because I fill up the innards of the laptop pretty quick taking pictures and now I have a terabyte of memory or whatever it is called, to use. Hubs thinks I wont be able to fill it, but I assured him that I would :D

In any case, I have been on the desktop now for a few weeks and while I am still trying to get used to this keyboard, i am loving the huge monitor and the speed this puppy has! Oh, and for once the speakers are loud enough that I can actually listen to my iTunes music on the computer!

Boom!

I changed from a Christmassy background to something more summery - its been WELL above seasonal temperatures here, it feels like we went from fall straight to spring. I understand that February we will get cold temperatures, but for right now, Im in a summery mood :D

We just hit the store for some Birthday gifts for the kids to take to a party they are going to tonight, a hockey game and sleep over, so fun for them. I'm heading to a passions party *wink wink* LOL with two co-workers, it should be a blast :D

Now that I have a job, and work about 20 hours a week - as opposed to the 6-12 hours I had been working, I have money to spend. Its not like im doing something specified like Transportation Attendant Jobs, im just a kitchen staff. I cook burgers LOL, but now that I am a "working woman" stuff like this passion party is something fun I can do without worrying about the cost of it. It's really fun

A lot

A lot has happened in the past few days!

Tonight Blake had his midyear kempo grading and received TWO yellow strip - the norm is to advance one stripe per grade, so two means he worked really hard! I am SO proud of him!

Logan lost a tooth last night, it was the funniest thing ever, I have a string of about 30 pictures on my phone of first logan trying to yank out the tooth, then of his brother trying to pull it out! It did of course come out, but the getting there was the funniest thing ever!

I went shopping Monday, all day, with my mother in law. We left the house at quarter to nine and got hiome at quarter to five. We had a BLAST! We hit all the liquadation sales and the auction too. We had a leisurely lunch at a resturaunt and hit the mall as well. I notcied a lot more frbo adverts than normal in the flyers as we passed the paper kiosks, but I guess with this economy thats to be expected.

I picked up some tiny gifts for friends and some pajamas for myself, and just generally had soooo much fun!

Merry Bang Bang!

Starting the morning of December 25th, this house is going to get very very noisy.
You see, we bought our seven year old son a five piece drum set, real drums.

Hubby and I have always been a lover of instruments, even though I can neither carry a tune nor play a tune to save my life! Hubs played saxapahone in high school and plays drums now, and watching our seven year old sit beside him with ice cream pails turned upside down, banging with a spoon, keeping time with his daddy really warmed our hearts!

Our oldest has a guitar, though he only pics at it, he isn't interested in lessons, though he does try to follow the books we got him. Our middle son is the only musical holdout it seems, though he does enjoy singing.

So, if you please, ear plugs in my stocking Christmas morning would be MUCH appreciated!!

Getting ready

Micah and Parker did a fundraiser for their karate group recently. they had to sell frozen cookie dough to raise money for their traveling - there is a tournament in Ontario they want to go to. They raised 411$, which is a pretty damn good amount, I figure. Plus, only two family members bought (myself and nana) so the rest was work for them.

I was expecting to have to wait for a few weeks to get my cookie dough - they only sent in the forms last Monday, but there was an email from their Sensei today that the cookie dough is in, so I will have it tonight :D

They have classes on Mondays, and I went to class for the first time last week to watch them. During break I got to meet the two sensei's, and they were both very nice. They were chatting with another group of adults about the incredible s price, which is something I don;t know much about - heck, I need Micah to set the alarm on my phone for me!

I do like my new phone though, I like having my calendar with me all the time, and I like having a place to jot notes. Annnnd I really like being able to post photos to facebook LOL

Winter Ice

One would think that I would never complain about the temperatures warning up, because hello, who likes the cold? Not me! And yet, with the temperatures rising above zero this week, the only thing I am thankful for is that I was able to get the snow off my driveway finally.

But at the same time, the roads have been freezing each night, and are slick as hell every morning, and my husband has to drive those icy dangerous roads, and I hate that!

We belong to a roadside assistance club, so if the car breaks down, fine, but the car breaking down is't what I am worried about, I worry about him crashing, or someone else crashing into him, because the roads are so so so so bad!

So yep, here I am, the only person in the world who likes to complain when the temperatures rise in the winter!

Christmas In the Air

The flyers were delivered today along with the requisite Christmas toys r us coupons and flyer. It's so cute watching the children page through the flyers and catalogs that keep coming, watching then write their lists, and then re-write the list when they find something new is overly amusing to me, especially as we have already finished the majority of our christmas shopping,s o it doesn't matter what they write down!

I've no clue what to get my step mother nor my father in law, but other than that, we are either done, or know what we need and its just a matter of us picking it up.

on Friday my husband mentioned that with the new fallen snow, it felt like christmas, Like Christmas eve! We won't be putting the tree up until The first Saturday in December, and thats when it really starts feeling Christmassy to me!

Last Friday Night

(The title makes me LOL)

Last Friday night, or yesterday, or last night, or twelvish hours ago, however you want to put it, I hit the city with Parker to get his hair cut and pick up snackage for his birthday related sleepover tonight (saturday).

His appoint, ent was for seven, but i had to hit the bank, which closed at six, so we left town at five and made it tot he bank with half hour to spare. I cashed my check (lol. I have a job now.) And talked to the teller about the issues I was havign with my card, which they fixed.

We met Nikki at the food court for soem abe and Willies and then STILL had time to kill before his 7PM appoint, ment :(

We spotted to look for those bead thingys for those bracelets. i forget what they are called, but you get a bracelet and then other ppl give you beads to fill it? My mother in law has one and I wanted to get her the boys birth stones for it. We saw plenty of beautiful diamond rings and an emerald bracelet that made me drool, but there wasn't a single birthstone bead in the store. Don';t you find that odd?

After Parkers hair cut - he didn't want his hair cut at all, but in the end, both he and I left the salon happy with the results. We hit Walmart for snackage and then went up to the mall so I could go to Ardene to get a new scarf. I have torn the house apart and I can;t find my scarf, and I wasn't willing to pay 12 bucks at walmart for a scarf when I knew they were 3/15 at Ardene. Im a cheapscape, and I don;t care who knows!

Oh! I love it!

The day before yesterday I was in the mooood for Christmas! I even went on facebook and twitter to ask for Christmas music recommendations! (leave a comment if you have a favorite song for Christmas!)

I just love Christmas, it has the BEST smells - pine, cinnamon, warmth from a crackling fire - shut up! thats a smell too!

So I stopped at the grocery store on the way home from work that day. I thought about picking up some butter to make some decorated christmas cookie trays, because who doesn't love shortbread? But in the end I picked up a container of molasses to make my famous (lol, they are) Soft Ginger Snap cookies.

EVERYONE loves my ginger snaps, and I seriously mean EVERY ONE.

So far, I haven't gotten off my butt to make said cookies, but I plan on doing them Saturday or Sunday. I thought I had Friday off, but I was off in my week by a day (WHo knew today was Thursday and didn't tell me?)and I have to work on friday!

So yeah. Either way, the word on the street is spring is gonna come early, and since this fall thing is lasting FO-EVAH, hard or not, winter should be a breeze to get through!

I ordered a nice coat for Samantha, so that she and i can continue our walks. If her paws get too cold, I will have to take her into the city to be fitted for boots, because I bought boots twice on line, and am obviously a dummy because the first pair were ages too big and the second pair were too tiny. On the plus, they were 99 cents, free shipping, but I'm not gonna waste another dollar or any more of my time trying to get the sizes right, I will wait and see how she does with her own furry feet, then take her to a professional if she needs them.

(our town uses gravel not salt, so I'm not worried about salt burns, just the cold, she is so so tiny)

When her coat comes in, I will be sure to make her pose pretty as a princess for pictures :D
